Story Elements

New Story Elements

Worlds are complex, and our initial 3 element types (NPC, Location, Scene) weren’t enough. We’ve added 4 new story element types:

  • Hero - For player characters.
  • Creature - Anything humanoid or not that you don’t declare as an NPC.
  • Unique - For special one-of-a-kind items. From weapons to a mother’s letter.
  • Faction - For organizations, guilds, political or religious groups.

New Image Editor

We have quite a few exciting features in mind for our image editor. As a first step, we completely redesigned the visuals.

Library Button

We learned that finding your library of story elements was coincidental. So we added a button to highlight that the library can always be opened on the right.

Enhanced Relationship Editing

Editing relationships between story elements is now more prominent. We added more visual guides to show whether you are in editing mode or not.

Introducing: The Assistant

Campaign Assistant

Your new AI assistant knows your entire campaign inside and out. Ask it anything about your world, get help brainstorming ideas, or let it plan your next session. Open it with the floating toolbar or hit Ctrl+Shift+A.

Creative Assistant

Need a shopping list for your players? Want to flesh out an NPC? The assistant delivers creative suggestions tailored to your campaign.

Image Uploads

Upload your own artwork. Add photos to scenes, NPCs, and locations. Make your campaign yours.

Fixes

You can delete games again. The bug that prevented this is gone.

Small Improvements

Session info overlays now stay where they belong when you move around the graph. No more weird pop-ups.

Placeholder images show up when you haven’t added your own yet. Makes everything easier to identify.

Early Access Launch

Talesmith is officially in Early Access! We’ve launched our landing page and are welcoming our first wave of users. Along with this launch, we’ve polished the entire experience with cleaner interface and consistent styling.

Features

  • Consistent styling throughout the entire app interface
  • Initial scene automatically created when starting a new game
  • Cleaned up unnecessary buttons and removed “cancelled” session state
  • Launched our landing page at talesmith.world
  • Direct signup available - no more waitlist

Sessions!

Sessions can now be planned, played and completed by creating a Session on a Scene in the Graph and moving other scenes in/out of the session.

New Features

  • Session creation button added to the left side of the Graph below scene creation
  • New Session Editor with floating button menu (Shift+Ctrl+S shortcut)
  • Cycle through all available sessions and quickly jot down notes
  • Enhanced Editor with table support and Slash-Menu (type /) for quick formatting
  • Add dividers, quotes, and manage table columns/rows directly from Slash-Menu
